We can provide a great range of products, but generally provide complete
systems. Some products are subject to specific requirements.
E.g : If you require a security system, then you would need to design
the system first to make sure
it meets with your requirements. This is generaly done buy way of a
list of questions:
How many zones do you require?
Split the area you want covered into zones. You generally need one zone
to be your entry & exit route.
Most panel handle 8 zones, but if you want more then you will require
extension panels.
How many sensors or detectors?
There is a great selection of sensors and detectors and generally one
for every situtation.
Glass break for window, door sensors, movement or infra-red, pressure
mats, laser beams etc.
Always try and cover all windows and doors. The best detectors utilies
pulse count.
This is a process to stop false alarms.
How many entry / exit points do you require?
Usually this is one, but you may have more than one entry / exit if
the panel allows.
How do you want to gain access?
There is quite a choice of methods for access, starting with the normal
number code, but can be a key fob,
key switch, remote control, and right through to bio controls. (fingerprint
etc)
How many sirens & strobes do you require?
Generally this is 2, but depends on the size and location of the building.
In some circumstances you may not require one at all!
How do you want to be notified?
There is a great choice of contact methods, starting with a normal auto-dialer
that phones your
choice of pre-programmed numbers and plays a pre-recoded message to
who ever answers.
This is usually 3 or 5 seperate numbers, one of which is the generaly
the police.
But now this can be done by, e-mail, text, sms, fax, phone and anything
else you can think of.
Please be aware that the police often disregard the message if a number
of false alarms have occured.
So it is advisable to throughly test the system before connecting the
auto-dialer.
Do you want fire detection combined?
Many systems come with the option built in. You just need to instal
the smoke & heat detectors when you want them.
The panels usually offers different siren sounds to alert you of fire
and again can use the notification options above.
What external connections do you require?
Do you want the place to light up when the alarm goes off? Set the CCTV
to record everything or
stream the video to the internet? What about a lock-down?
With the right selection of relays, motors, sensors & gadgets you can
make anything happen!
Small details?
When planing an installation you should be a few things in mind.
1) Any alarm system should be on its on supply from the fuseboard.
2) A phone line or internet connection.(unless you are using a GRPS
auto-dialer)
3) Cable routes. (Hardwired systems are more reliable than cordless.
Sirens must be cabled)
4) Most systems can use programmable detectors and sensors allowing
many of them to be connected to one cable route.
5) Where possible use all the features that suit your requirements.
If you have CCTV connect it to your alarm system.
That's most of the basics and not by any means a comprehensive listing,
but hopefully enough to give you an idea of what is required.
We always use the rule that where possible everything that has the capability
of doing something should be used.
Not only does it save money on hardware, but on electric and maintenance
costs.
