  • Burglar Alarms

There is a great range of Burglar alarms on the market and most have a great range of features. It is a shame that so many features are rarley used, usually due to lack of information. Do users ever read the manual? not usually. But then do the installers? may be just the installation instruction. Fire alarm system Did you know that most alarms already come with an integrated fire alarm system? That means, that all you need are the detectors, your installer can connect them at the same time. Or would you rather spend a fortune on a seperat dedicated system? Thought not!

Below is a list of general features that are included (or have connections for) in most alarms systems. General features:
Tamper, circuit detection, zone addressing, A range of test features. (read the manual for testing codes.) Extras.
Tags, duress, personal attack, integrated fire alarm system,

    Fire Alarms

Fire alarms are generally installed as self contained system, but there are no rules that state they must be. They must be monitored, serviceable and meet all the fire regulation specifications. There are however more benefits to systems integration, for example, a burgular alarm already has an auto-dialer installed, so why buy another, the sirens can be multipurpose as can the strobes. Most panels will allow for different settings, messages and actions and the of course only one system needs maintainence.
We do feel that Fire alarm systems are a required unit and provide a valueble service, we happened to think that the services are never used to the maximum. As with the burgular alarms, fire alarm panels have the ability to have extra units incorporated in the system, relays that can activate anything, emergency lighting activated, door and windows closed and communications activated.

    Remote Controls

The range of remote controls is a lot bigger than you would think and yet are generally used only for TV's, Video's, DVD's and the usual household goods. So why are they not used in business and commercial situation? Well some are, but none very often. Most PDA's can be used as a universal remote control, but aren't. Laptop's and tablet PC's again can be a universal remote, if fact most things that have an infra red out connection can. So why not use your phone as a remote control, you always carry it? All that is requried is the software and this is generally available and free.

    Communications

Where to start? They range of communication is massive. Phone, fax, e-mail, text, paging, auto-dialer, radio broadcasting, direct link etc. How many can be used with alarms? All of them! It's true. At a minimum bugular alarms, allow auto-dialer, text, fax and e-mail and the rest can be added. With communication in a constant state of growth, new features and greater coverage is ever expanding. Mobile networks and security features are making communication faster and safer. Any communication can be integrated with other technologies and although the integration may not always be simple, it is possible.
Direct communication is a viable option, although it is often disregarded due to expected cost, but this is wrong. With the introduction of WiMAX and other distance wireless systems a range of 10 miles and over is easily possible. Especially if there is line of sight. (There are often variables involved.) When compared with leased lines or other telecomm products the wireless system can save you thousands.
The wireless networks can be used for CCTV, data, audio/visual, almost anything that can be broken down into data packets. This makes it an even more viable option as it provides a permanent connection with very little overheads.
